Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy (psychotherapy) that is used to help clients overcome many aspects of cognitive deconstruction and negative thinking. CBT helps you the client become aware and mindful of inaccuracies, negative behavior modifications, or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly, developing positive, functional coping skills to be able to respond to internal and external triggers and stressors.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is needed to diagnose emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders. An evaluation of a child, adolescent, or adult is made based on behaviors present, clinical symptoms and in relation to physical, genetic, environmental, social, cognitive (thinking), emotional, and
educational parts that may be affected as a result of these behaviors.

Medication management

Medication management includes recommendation of lifestyle modification to include exercise, nutrition, weight loss, nutritional supplementation as well as prescribed psychotropics for wellness. Medications and lifestyle changes strategies can help reduce your biological predisposition (vulnerability) and treat your symptoms of mental illness. They can be powerful tools in your journey toward recovery.

We have all experienced running how to check to see if you locked the doors or turn off the stove or lock the doors. It is very normal for us to occasionally do these kinds of acts. These behaviors are different when a person suffers from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is an anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable, unwanted thoughts and ritualized, repetitive behaviors you feel compelled to perform that is affecting your activities of daily living. If you have OCD, you probably recognize that your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors are irrational as you may find yourself at 3 am crying, trying to redo a project, or retype a paper because something was “Just off, not right.” You struggle with your thoughts getting stuck, you fear saying the wrong thing, for fear of harming others. You pick at your skin until it becomes sore and red, you spend hours reading your email response and rewriting them because of whatever uncomfortable feelings of fear that specific task brings you. It’s hard to be you and enjoy life when you are constantly over-worried, over-prepare, inflexible, unable to adjust to new changes, and just overly anxious something may go wrong.
